Presentation: Using Risk Analysis to Track Project Execution Performance

This session will address how to schedule risk analysis is being used as a leading indicator for execution performance on a multibillion-dollar LRT project currently underway. Next-generation schedule risk analysis techniques will first be introduced, taking in concepts such as risk-adjusted forecasting and contingency drawdown. Building on this, the discussion will turn to how repeatedly running such an analysis as a project progresses is a powerful means of determining improving or worsening execution control. The results of this approach on the LRT project will be discussed in detail.

  • The philosophy and process around next-generation risk analysis and how digital tools facilitate efficient and accurate risk reduction
  • How iterative risk analysis of projects in progress helps pinpoint risk hotspots and enable the honing of execution efforts
  • The value of risk analysis techniques that combine both human and AI-generated input into potential risk scenarios
  • How insights gained from an ongoing large-scale infrastructure project can be applied to future project

Speaker: Dr. Dan Patterson, Chief Design Office, Ineight
